Effective: March 31, 2026

Welcome to HBCU Community. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the HBCU Community platform ("Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.

1. Description of Service

HBCU Community is a platform that connects students, alumni, and supporters of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The Platform provides networking, resource sharing, mentorship, and community engagement features.

2. Account Responsibilities

To use certain features of the Platform, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update your information as needed. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit to the Platform ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant HBCU Community a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content in connection with operating and improving the Platform. You represent that you have the necessary rights to grant this license and that your User Content does not violate any third-party rights.

4. AI-Generated Content

The Platform uses artificial intelligence to provide certain features, including resume parsing and bio generation. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • AI-generated content is provided as suggestions only and may contain inaccuracies or errors. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving any AI-generated content before it is added to your profile.
  • HBCU Community does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated output.
  • Personal identifiers (such as email addresses and phone numbers) are redacted from data sent to third-party AI providers. Your original uploaded files are not shared with AI providers.

5. Institutional Data Access

HBCU Community may grant participating Historically Black Colleges and Universities ("Institutional Partners") access to certain alumni and student data through the Platform. Institutional Partners are subject to the following terms:

  • Separate agreement required: Institutional Partners must enter into an Institutional Data Agreement with HBCU Community before accessing any user data. Access is granted solely at HBCU Community's discretion.
  • Permitted use only: Institutional Partners may use shared data only for alumni engagement measurement, institutional advancement, career outcome analysis, and facilitating alumni-to-student connections. Any other use is strictly prohibited.
  • No resale or redistribution: Institutional Partners may not sell, sublicense, share, or redistribute any data obtained through the Platform to any third party.
  • No unsolicited marketing: Institutional Partners may not use data obtained through the Platform for unsolicited marketing, advertising, or commercial solicitation of users.
  • Revocation: HBCU Community reserves the right to revoke any Institutional Partner's data access at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms or the Institutional Data Agreement.
  • Affiliation governs access: By affiliating with an institution on the Platform, you agree that your profile information and engagement activity are accessible to that Institutional Partner. You control what information appears on your profile; information you choose not to provide will not be shared.

For details on what data is shared with Institutional Partners and how it is protected, see our Privacy Policy.
